Crystal Reports hanging or lockup issue.
Issue:
Report generation was reported as hanging or locking up using PM.
Reproduced in both PM and OpteSuite during report creation.
Viewing old reports through PM and or OpteSuite would also replicate the issue.
Troubleshooting:
Create New Reports.
View old reports.
Logger indicated the Crystal Reports creation process was started with no other events.
Used Task Manager to kill the PM or OpteSuite process to stop. Cancelling the generation process would not cancel.
Used customers files to generate reports on a test computer at NPI without issue.
Uninstalled and reinstall both PM and OpteSuite.
Uninstall and reinstall Crystal Reports.
Updated OC/CC to newest correct version.
Swapped to backup hard drive.
Reseated memory in computer.
Discovery:
Customer's IT had changed a computer that OC/CC was sharing a printer through.
When the computer was replaced, the OC/CC was still defaulted to the now non existent computer/printer.
Solution:
Changed the default printer from a non existent printer to another real printer or pdf creator.
Reports created correctly.
View old reports correctly.
